First-Ever Health Facility Established in Lowah Town, Bomi County

On February 5, 2024, Lowah Town, Bomi County, witnessed a historic milestone with the official dedication of its first-ever health facility. Refuge Place International (RPI), led by Dr. Mosoka P. Fallah, in partnership with the Varney Taylor Foundation, inaugurated a clinic in Lowah Town, Mannah Clan, Bomi County. This marks the fourth clinic dedicated by RPI and the first clinic constructed through a partnership with a Liberian in the diaspora.

During the dedication ceremony, local officials emphasized that this achievement marked a significant step toward improving healthcare services in Klay District. It exemplifies the power of collaboration and community-driven initiatives in fostering positive change.

The Town Chief of Lowah Town, Mr. Momo Zinnah, expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Mosoka P. Fallah and the Varney Taylor Foundation for their humanitarian work. He pledged his full support for the clinic, stating, “We are happy today to have a clinic in our town. This is the first clinic ever in our community. We will continue to work with the clinic’s authorities to ensure it remains operational and serves our people. My office is always open to the clinic. Whenever the clinic needs me, call on me; we will be available to assist our people.”

A Brief History of the Lowah Town Clinic

The establishment of the Lowah Town Clinic stemmed from a personal tragedy and a deep concern for the community's well-being. After losing two of his sisters and hearing numerous stories of maternal and child deaths, Cllr. Varney Taylor recognized the urgent need for a health facility in the area. In response, he reached out to Refuge Place International through his friend, Dr. Mosoka P. Fallah, to initiate the construction of a clinic in his hometown, Lowah.

This collaborative effort has now resulted in a vital healthcare facility that will significantly enhance medical services for Lowah Town and surrounding communities.
